Everything you might want to ask.
Grouped by where you are in the decision — from early research, through the resin and the base, to the guarantee and the years after. If your question isn't here, just call and ask.
Before you call
Do you charge for a survey or quote?
No. John comes out, measures up, assesses the ground and the drainage, and puts a considered proposal to it — free and with no obligation. As Elizabeth Thomson's review describes it, 'John the owner popped over to discuss my requirements' before the team ever arrived. Because every driveway is different, we don't quote blind off a per-square-metre rate; we quote the actual job in front of us.
Will I deal with John himself?
Yes. John owns the company, carries out the survey and is on site with his own in-house team through the build. That's why clients name him personally in the reviews — Sally Richmond wrote that 'John and the team worked very hard,' and anne walmsley that 'John kept me updated daily throughout each stage of the work.' There's no sales layer between you and the people laying your driveway.
How much does a resin driveway cost?
There's no fixed per-square-metre price, because the cost depends on the size, the aggregate blend you choose and — crucially — how much groundwork and drainage the base needs underneath. We'd rather survey properly and give you a real figure than quote a headline rate that changes the moment we dig. Wally Wallace's review notes John 'gave us three cost options, which very helped' — you get options to decide between, not a single take-it-or-leave-it price.
How do you spread payment?
Across a clear 4-stage plan — 10% on booking, 30% at groundwork, 40% at installation and 20% on completion. We don't ask for the full amount up front; what you pay tracks the work that's actually been done, and the final 20% is settled only once you've walked the finished job and you're happy.
What areas do you cover?
We're based on Grove Road in Harrogate and cover Harrogate and the surrounding towns and villages — Knaresborough, Ripon, Wetherby, Boroughbridge, Pannal and around — for residential resin driveways, patios and landscaping. For commercial resin bound surfacing we work UK-wide. See our service-area page for the full list.
About the resin & the base
Is resin bound really built to last through winter?
Yes. Our resin bound system is BBA-certified — independently assessed by the British Board of Agrément — and has been tested to withstand temperatures down to -50°C. That's well beyond anything a Yorkshire winter will throw at it, which is exactly why we're comfortable backing every installation with a 10-year guarantee.
Does resin bound drain, or will I get puddles?
It drains. Resin bound is a permeable surface — water passes straight through the finished surface and the pervious base beneath it, rather than sitting on top. That makes our installations SuDS-compliant (Sustainable Drainage Systems), so there's no standing water, no run-off across your neighbour's boundary, and generally no planning headache that an impermeable surface can bring.
What makes the base so important?
Most of the value in a resin driveway is invisible. We start every job with a survey and a drainage assessment, then engineer a SuDS-compliant base using a proprietary pervious concrete blend, so the surface on top drains and stays put. As Naveed Hameed's review puts it, John 'meticulously fixed and patched the problematic sections to ensure a solid foundation before laying a flawless resin overlay.' Get the base right and the surface performs for decades.
How thick is the resin, and is it strong enough for cars?
Our resin bound driveways are laid to a 20mm depth and rated for vehicular use, over an engineered pervious sub-base. It's a smooth, seamless, hand-troweled finish — no loose stones migrating across the drive, no ruts, and a slip-resistant surface that stands up to daily traffic.
Who actually lays the work?
Our own in-house team — every installer with a minimum of five years' resin experience. We don't sub the surfacing out to a crew you've never met. We also offer a white-label installation service for other trades, and support for newly qualified resin installers, precisely because doing it to standard is what we're known for.
Guarantee, giving back & after
What exactly does the 10-year guarantee cover?
Every installation is covered for 10 years against loose stones, cracking, UV degradation, frost damage and workmanship. If any of those go wrong on work we've laid, you have it in writing that we'll come back and put it right. It sits on top of your normal statutory rights, not instead of them.
Why does the resin stay looking new?
Because it's UV-stable. Cheaper resins yellow and fade in sunlight; our BBA-certified system is UV-stable, and UV degradation is one of the things the 10-year guarantee specifically covers — so the finish you approve is the finish you keep.
What's the Community Care Fund?
We give 1% of every project to our Community Care Fund, which supports elderly and disabled residents across the local area. It's a small, standing commitment built into how we price and run the business — when you have work done, a little of it goes back into the community.
Do you take on commercial as well as domestic work?
Both. Alongside residential driveways, patios and landscaping, we deliver large-scale commercial resin bound surfacing for hospitals, retail parks, schools, care homes, workplace entrances, public walkways and developments — with full project management from survey to handover. Our commercial clients include Bradford Royal Infirmary, The Oasis Health Club, The Glen Nursing Home, Bupa Care Home Harrogate, GC Motors and Dwellant.
Can you repair or refurbish an existing resin surface?
Yes. We repair and overlay aged or failing resin surfaces for both homes and commercial car parks — assessing what's gone wrong, putting the groundwork right where needed, and overlaying to bring the surface back to a sound, seamless, permeable finish.
Still wondering about something?
The quickest way to a straight answer is a quick call or a WhatsApp photo of the patio, drive or garden. No obligation, no pressure.
